UN peacekeeping Forces attacked by IDF forces in Southern Lebanon.
Written by Michael Valbjorn, This is a column and it describes the opinion of the writer, this column can not be viewed only as objective fact.
Several attacks on UNIFIL forces, have been observed and documented by the UN, after Israel started its 2024 land campaign i Southern Lebanon.1
The attacks have been condemned by more than 30 UN member countries so far, in what among others the Danish defense minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, has called completely unacceptable attacks on the UN mission in the area. Among other critics of the attacks are notable countries such as France, Spain and Germany.
The UN has in response to the violence in the area, just renewed the UNIFIL Mission mandate until August 2025.2
I wiev this attack, as a blatant attack on the UN peacekeeping mission, and a threat to peace in the region. I accept the need for Israel to protect itself from attacks from militants, by engaging militants, but attacks on the UN peacekeeping mission does not support this end!
I am following developments and will update as things progress. Other Sources3 4 5 6
