February 24 2022, Russian forces rolled over the border to the Ukraine, and started a campaign of war, where both civilians and soldiers lost their lives. The justification the Kremlin has tried to sell, is that of a fictitious tale of genocidal actions by the Ukraine government, to have taken place in Donbas, a claim that has since been rejected. Since the invasion started in 2022, the battle has been raging and thousands upon thousands have lost their lives, civilians and soldiers alike.
Since the very beginning of the war, there has been solid support for the Ukraine from EU nations and others, which have rallied to her defence. They have supported the Ukraine with both money and hardware through three long years of war. The reasons for the solid european assistance to the Ukraine are several. First of all there is the support for international justice and democracy, which are principles which weigh heavily in the conscience of european citizens, and then there is the security perspective, that if Ukraine falls into Russian hands, everyone would be waiting for that horrible day, when the next state is attacked.
Most parties in europe understand the need for this support to the Ukraine, and see the threats inherent in not assisting and taking a stand right now. The population is also largely supportive throughout
Europe. There is however something stirring in the fringes of the politcal landscape in Europe, and it is very important we as humans counter this threat with all of our hearts and minds, or we will be very sorry we didn’t.
I am of course speaking of the threat from undemocratic entities, political and otherwise, spewing erosive and divisive communication of fear and hate towards you every chance they get. You must not give them traction, you must not let them lead you into hate. On social media, through news commentary and through parrots in society they form opinions of distrust towards leadership, in a clear mission to divide and conquer the hearts and minds of everyday people like us. We have seen the results of these powerful tactics all too recently, and that in one of the most powerful democracies on earth, where the narrative of an enemy within and the distrust in government has put pressure on the freedoms of the press and on everyday americans.
The entities committing these undemocratic acts, often follow a clear and systemic pattern of communication. Step one, the erosion of trust. They will communicate to you that the government is lying to you, about the situation in the Ukraine and that your government cares more for Ukrainians than they care about you. They will also convey for you, that your parliaments, governments, courts and the free press is captured by a globalist agenda, so that they cannot be trusted. This type of communication is almost always part of the narrative when these entities do their work. Step two, the undermining of democratic institutions where the targets are as follows. The UN, EU, NATO, national governments, the media, the courts and of course any expert ready to disprove their claims, whether that being a scientist or an expert in a specific field of expertise.
Knowing these points of communication, you will be able to spot these arguments in daily life, and you will know that it is always ok to switch off or walk away, preserving dignity and a strong belief in unity over divisiveness.
The hate and conspiracy mongers are in the minority and hopefully that is where they will stay, because we truly need the opposite. We need unity, we need peace, we need international justice, we need to fight for truth, tolerance, mercy and love. Democracy and freedom are not just words or ideas, it is the very system holding all of our lives together, giving us the opportunities to grow and prosper in this beautiful mosaic of Europe, in which we live.
Stay strong for each other and for Ukraine, we stand united.
